  Our ANNUAL COMPETITION is different than our quarterly competitions, so please be sure to carefully review our Image Competition page for the updated rules.

   Enter your images at www.printcompetition.com under the MDPPA competition tab.  The portal to enter your images for our ANNUAL COMPETITION closes for entries on October 8 at 11 PM Eastern.
  

  Remember: If your image has merited at an MDPPA Annual Competition, it is no longer eligible to be entered in any future MDPPA competitions (except for score only). Starting in 2023, any images merited at PPA's Merit Image Reviews are eligible to compete at MDPPA unless they have merited at any MDPPA Annual Competition.

  Program Description:

  In this two-class program, Judy will show you how to take images and turn them into beautiful works of art from vacation, zoo, nature, and client shots. Day 1 we will spend photographing animals on location, developing and enhancing your photography skills. Whether you are using these for print competition or not, what do you do with them after that? We will discuss options for your art after the print competition season. Learn to think outside the box about a bad image, don't delete it. You can change the direction of an animal's head to be more impactful (this technique is excellent for client's pets.) Learn how to change the lighting from flat or high noon to studio-looking and directional. On day 2, we will be in a classroom setting, learning how to take images and transform them into something extraordinary. Develop custom background creation techniques: quick and easy or longer, more detailed. Painting techniques will be covered, but the focus is on the tools used to create remarkable changes to a basic image. First-time painters will get the groundwork, and experienced painters will be able to run with some new info. Creating custom Photoshop brushes from your own images to add impact and style. Images will be supplied along with custom-designed brushes by Judy. NOTE: You will earn 1 PPA Merit per day when you attend the program in person. PPA Merits are not earned if you elect to attend via Zoom.

  Speaker Bio:

  Judy Reinford M. Photog., M. Artist, CR., CPP, MAI

  In 1989 Judy graduated from Kutztown University with a BFA in Communication Design and Fine Art Photography. She started working in photography for Hess’s department store right after graduation. She photographed everything from china to jewelry to bed linens. Judy’s interest in pet, equine and zoo photography came about with her interest in PPA print competition. This lead to an interest in fundraising and donating to zoo’s her finished work for Gala silent auctions. She is on the board of The Lehigh Valley Zoo Gala Committee. The importance of animal conservation is a passion of hers. This past year she worked on a calendar project for the LVZ that lead to over $4000 in donation money for the zoo. Her studio specializes in pet and equine photography. On location or in the studio. Offering digital mixed media paintings and fairytale composites of both pets and people. Horses has become a recent passion over the past 3 years. Judy started horse back riding again as an adult the summer of 2020. Photographing these gentle giants alone or with their owners is a rewarding experience. On the teaching side, her seminars have gained a lot of national attention. Traveling to PPA affiliates and Photography Guild’s across the country. Even small events have had attendees fly in from far away.

  Join us as we cross the Claycomb-covered bridge and step back in time to the 18th century at Old Bedford Village for their Candlelit Christmas Event. Stroll through the Village of over 36-period workshops and log cabins for an authentic immersion experience waiting for you to capture. Take shots of their period-clothed craftsmen and women, learn about Bedford's historic past along the way, perhaps a horse and buggy ride around the Village. They promise to get you so close to the past you'll be able to touch, smell and hear it! Grab your gear and join us for an evening full of fun!

  All registrants will be responsible for their admission fee and any additional purchases. This is a group outing to connect and share your passion for photography with others as you capture images at this picturesque location in the Alleghenies.
