Mountaintop Stargazing Adventure!
Calling All Stargazers and Photographers! Join us for a weekend astrophotography adventure under the incredible dark skies of Spruce Knob Lake, West Virginia. This remote location in the Monongahela National Forest is renowned for its minimal light pollution, offering breathtaking views of the Milky Way.

Where: Spruce Knob Lake Campground, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia.
Accommodations:
Reserve your campsite early on https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/234132, MDPPA host (James Corbett) be camping at site 15.

Milky Way: Capture the Galactic Center in all its glory after dark.
Star Trails: Enjoy an unobstructed view of the northern sky.
Spruce Knob Sunsets: Don't miss the spectacular vistas from West Virginia's highest peak.
Sunrise Fog: Photograph the ethereal beauty of fog over the lake.

Schedule:
The weekend is relaxed! Aside from prime Milky Way shooting times on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, enjoy exploring, socializing, or simply relaxing in nature. Additional information is provided to members who register.
Preparation:
No Cell Service: Put your phone in airplane mode and download offline maps.
Campground: Be prepared to meet your own needs. Toilets are available. However, there is no electricity or running water at the campsites.
Learn the Basics: Visit Lonely Speck(https://www.lonelyspeck.com/) for astrophotography tips and tutorials. You will find a wealth of articles there on this type of photography. If you do a little studying in advance, you will likely have better results. While James is happy to help, this is not a workshop.
