One of our newest members, Julie Cook Goetzinger, brought this event to our attention. Matthew Brady, known as the father of photojournalism, is also notable for his portraits of his contemporaries like Edgar Allen Poe, Frederick Douglass, and Belva Lockwood. It is his portrait of Abraham Lincoln that you are so familiar with from the penny!!
