Photographing newborns and babies is challenging but one of the most rewarding niches in the industry. There is nothing more magical than creating portraits of a baby that just arrived to this world a few days earlier, and documenting his/her major milestones within the first year of life. Sylwia will walk you through her portrait creation process, from setting up the space, essential items and equipment, styling and props, through typical workflow with basic and advanced poses. She will thoroughly explain all aspects of infant and baby photography, including editing techniques, and will provide you with valuable tips for each milestone that will help you create exceptional portraits that will WOW parents.

An award winning Portrait Artist and Certified Professional Photographer, Sylwia Ok, M.Photog.,CPP, specializes in maternity, newborn and baby custom portraiture. Sylwia’s love of design and art was evident in her high school years, but her interest in photography sparked almost a decade later with the purchase of her first dSLR, Nikon d80. Soon after moving to Kodiak, Alaska in 2011, she opened her photography studio and successfully established her portrait work with the local community. Three years later, her family moved to Pasadena, Maryland where she opened her dream home-based boutique studio, re-established her business with new clients, and consistently delivers dazzling images of babies to gleeful parents.
Sylwia attributes her business success to creating an exceptional portrait experience for her clients and creating exquisite portraits, albums, and wall art they love. Sylwia has been a PPA member since 2012 and she joined MDPPA in 2017. Sylwia is a 2015 ICP Bronze Medalist, 2016 ICP Silver Medalist, 2018 ICP Gold Medalist, and is one of the 2018 Grand Imaging Award Finalists in the Children Category. At her first annual MDPPA print competition in 2018, Sylwia received an Award for the Best Portrait as well as the Best Photograph of a Child, and she was also named as one of the Top Ten MDPPA Photographers in 2017.
